The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
(Deut. 29:29 NIV)
There are secret things. Some things will not be known. At least, not in this life. We will have questions that will go unanswered.
So God has not told us everything. But, His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. (2 Pet. 1:3 NIV)
Perhaps that is one of the reasons Paul will warn the Corinthians and us to be careful that we do not go beyond what is written. That is our challenge and aim. Strive to stay with what God has said. Take care not to fall short of it by dismissing the things we wish were not said. While also making sure we do not go beyond what God has said and add to his word the things we wish he had said.
The secret things belong to God. But what he has revealed belong to us so we may follow all of his words.
