Farsighted people can see long distances. Nearsighted people can see at close range. People with astigmatism struggle either way, because the muscles are always straining to focus. People with any eye problems typically can get corrective lenses to help them focus and see better.
Here is my problem. My corrective lenses broke the day before I left on my trip, and I did not have time to see the eye doctor to get new frames. My solution was to use gorilla tape to attempt to fasten the frames again. They looked pretty good, but it was certainly a temporary fix.
Physical eye problems can have solutions IF we go to the eye doctor. Key Word: IF. Spiritual vision problems also have solutions IF we look through the eyes of Jesus through the shadow of the cross.
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Heb. 12:2-3 NIVO)
13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. (Jn. 15:13-14 NIVO)
23 But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. (Matt. 6:23-24 NIVO)
If, If, If. Conditional statements and the responsibility falls on us to choose Him above all.
Church, let’s put on our eternal glasses and live life through the eyes of Jesus. Life Lived in Love.
